This week (April 2-9) has not been like any other week. Many of us have felt its special energy, particularly around the New Moon on April 7th. Which came with blessings and gifts for all of us. Spring is also a time for revival, for realigning ourselves with our paths, new beginnings are in the air as a new astrological cycle starts with Aries.
Looking back at the way this week has unfolded for me, it all makes even more sense. Mena and I were guided to get together this past Tuesday, with the intention of spending some quality time and of course, visiting with her amazing herd. The special circumstances naturally allowed us to enjoy each other’s gifts and what we are here to offer the world. Mena showed me a glimpse into her life-altering work with her equine partners. We ended up hanging out with the horses out in the field, as they so decided. Clearly demonstrating how our agendas may not always coincide with theirs. Mena’s master horse teacher, Shiloh, stepped up and graciously stood his ground when we thought our session with him was to take place in the arena. Mena smiled and said: “I guess we will just have to have it out here!”. She handed me the lead rope and I tried to move Shiloh’s feet, as I would have really wanted him to walk with me. No success, he would not go anywhere. Life can’t be lived in ambivalence. Being in the moment while having expectations for a certain outcome simply does not work. Mena invited me to connect with Shiloh further and see what happens. I stood there, with this beautiful horse by my side, invaded by a deep sense of peace and reassurance. I looked at him beside me and everything made sense. With my hand on his heart chakra, we were united in the same rhythm. Shoulder to shoulder, soul to soul. When Shiloh felt his job was done, he gently disconnected, without going too far. I took a few steps around and, to my huge surprise, another of Mena’s horses, Shaman, started following me very close. I could feel his breath at the back of my neck. I walked around with him glued to me. As Mena so eloquently said, magic happens when we do not wait for it. We can’t intend it or focus on bringing it about. We just need to open ourselves and allow it to unfold right in front of our eyes, in ways we can’t envision. Mena joined me in my walk with Shaman and, with this statuesque horse between us, I experienced one of the most joyous moments in a while. We ran, Shaman followed, we giggled lots…and I am sure he did too, in his own way 🙂
In this special state, I asked Mena if she would be up for a mini shoot. The light was turning a beautiful gold and the snow was reflecting it. Too good a moment to miss! I suggested we picked Mia, the gracious white mare. I could visualize her in the beautiful soft light and thought she could bring in a dreamy quality to the images. Now I know my choice that evening went beyond the visual aspect and it actually came from a deeper part of me. White horses have always reminded me of mystical realms of existence and the purity of Spirit. New beginnings, hope and love. Mia was there to reinforce it all. To show us that she was so willing to conquer her own fears of the unknown and fully surrender to trust and love. With Mena by her side, she cooperated in ways that make me think of a beautiful dream…of transcendence…of stepping into a different kind of reality.
Enjoy these images below and hope they will inspire you to visit Mena at her fabulous ‘Liberty Lane Retreat Centre’ for your own share of magic.
My thanks go to Mena – for sharing her incredible gifts with me, and to Mia – the supermodel horse, whose role went beyond that.
